Cosmetic Dentistry

Designed to enhance the appearance of your teeth

Cosmetic Dentistry refers to a range of procedures that are designed to enhance the appearance of your teeth and smile and in some cases may also provide restorative benefits.

Cosmetic Treatments

  • Facial AestheticsInjections of muscle relaxant are available at expatdental® at both our Singapore clinics. These treatments may be used for cosmetic indications as well as therapeutic purposes, including the management of clenching and grinding. All treatments are provided following a clinical assessment and discussion of suitability.

  • Veneers: Veneers are thin, custom-made restorations that are placed on the front surface of teeth to modify their appearance. They may be fabricated from ceramic materials, such as porcelain or zirconia, or from composite resin. Veneers can be used to adjust the shape, colour, or alignment of teeth and are bonded to the tooth surface following careful planning. Your dentist will assess your oral health, discuss material options and the treatment process, and advise whether veneers are suitable for you. Treatment may involve a consultation, digital planning, tooth preparation where appropriate, and placement of the final restorations once approved.

  • Whitening – In-chair whitening may be considered by patients seeking a faster approach to teeth whitening. During the procedure, a protective barrier is applied to the gums to help protect the soft tissues. A whitening gel is then applied to the teeth and activated with a light to enhance the action of the whitening agent. As part of the process, impressions may be taken to create custom trays for at-home use, along with instructions to help maintain whitening results.

  • Take Home WhiteningTake-home whitening is a more gradual approach to teeth whitening. A dentist or hygienist will take a mould of your teeth to create custom trays. Whitening gel and instructions are provided for use at home over a longer period, allowing results to develop progressively.

FAQs

Whitening products used at expatdental® are selected for professional use following clinical assessment.

In-chair whitening is carried out under close supervision by our dentists and hygienists. Take-home whitening products are provided based on individual needs and instructions.

Teeth whitening is not suitable for everyone, and your dentist will advise whether it is appropriate for you.

We recommend avoiding whitening methods or products that are not intended for dental use, including advice often shared on social media or viral videos, as these may carry risks to teeth and gums.

Depending on individual sensitivity, some patients may experience temporary discomfort during whitening. The procedure is supervised by our clinical team, who can offer guidance and support throughout.

Veneers are intended as a longer-term restorative option. In many cases, a small amount of enamel may be reshaped to allow the veneer to fit properly. This means that ceramic veneers (such as porcelain or zirconia) are generally not reversible, as the tooth surface is permanently altered.

Composite veneers, on the other hand, may involve minimal or no enamel adjustment and can sometimes be modified or replaced more easily.

Your dentist will explain the process in detail and advise which type of veneer may be most appropriate based on your teeth and treatment goals.

Digital planning tools can be used to help visualise potential treatment outcomes. We work with you to create a digital representation based on your facial features, teeth, and clinical assessment.

In some cases, a temporary mock-up — often referred to as a “trial smile” — may be created. This allows you to experience the proposed shape and proportions before any permanent treatment is carried out.

Your dentist will explain what is suitable for your individual case and guide you through each step of the planning process.

The lifespan of veneers can vary depending on the material used, oral hygiene, bite forces, and individual habits such as grinding or clenching.

With appropriate care and regular dental reviews, veneers can function for many years. However, they are not considered permanent and may need maintenance, repair, or replacement over time.

Your dentist will discuss expected longevity, care requirements, and any factors that may influence durability during your consultation.

Pricing varies depending on the type of treatment and individual clinical needs. During your consultation, a personalised treatment plan will be discussed, along with the associated fees.

Payment options may be available, and our team can provide further information if appropriate.
