How Claims and Payments Work
Direct Billing
Where direct billing has been confirmed for your policy and treatment, expatdental® can submit eligible claims directly to Cigna on your behalf. This can provide a cashless experience for the covered portion of eligible treatment.
You will remain responsible for any deductible, co-payment, amount above your benefit limit, or treatment not covered by your policy.
Direct billing is subject to confirmation and does not guarantee that every treatment or fee will be covered.
Reimbursement Claims
Some Cigna plans operate on a pay-and-claim basis. If this applies, payment is made to the clinic and the claim is then submitted to Cigna for reimbursement.
Our team can complete the relevant claim forms and provide an itemised invoice and supporting documentation to assist with your reimbursement claim.
Outstanding Balances
Cigna makes the final decision regarding claim eligibility and payment. If a claim is partially paid, adjusted or declined, any remaining balance will be the patient’s responsibility. Where possible, our team will explain the expected patient portion before treatment begins.
